A Study on the Effect of Risk Factors on the Drug Attitudes of Adolescents
Choi Jae-Yun

Lee Gwang-Sup
Abstract
Adolescence is a period between childhood and adulthood, in which an individual biologically,
psychologically, and socially goes through dramatic change, and matures drastically.
Also, during this period a person reaches his fully matured personality, and gets ready for his
part as a social individual. Due to these changes, adolescents go through a period of disobedience or of feeling lost, which leads to drug abuse or delinquency. This research is to establish the importance of the influence of high-risk factors on the attitude towards adolescents¡¯ drug abuse, and analyze how these factors influence the attitude towards adolescents¡¯ drug abuse.
First, out of all the participants, only 328 persons (61.31%) were in the high-risk group,
and those who have been educated about the drug abuse prevention program were only 272
persons (51.13%). When we selected risk factors of adolescents¡¯ drug abuse from each part
that was used in the screening inspection for the high-risk group, all 6 factors showed
significant results. Second, drugs were mostly used for treatment, and cold medicine and
painkiller were the most commonly used drugs. However, since adolescents could easily buy
drugs, there are some concerns that they might overuse drugs, because of stress or uriosity.
Third, the subject¡¯s attitude towards drugs was affected by the person¡¯s academic abili-ty, health, and the risk factors that were used to sort the high-risk group.
